This Privacy Policy explains how SecurdFor.Me ("SecurdFor.Me," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use our website and services (the "Service"). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly, and some information automatically as you use the Service.
Information you provide:
- Account information: name, business name, email address, phone number, mailing address, city, state, and zip code, provided when you apply as a broker or dealer.
- Listing information: vehicle details, approximate MSRP (if provided), client zip code and search radius, delivery preferences, and related notes, when you create or interact with a listing.
- Bid information: pricing, fees, availability, VIN/stock numbers, and notes submitted by dealers on listings.
- Communications: messages you send us through the contact form, and any correspondence with our support.
- SMS consent and content: if you opt in to text messages, we retain a record of your consent and the content of messages sent and received (see Section 3 below).
Information collected automatically:
- Standard technical data such as browser type, device information, and pages visited, collected through normal server logging.
- Sign-in and location data: each time you sign in, we record your IP address, an approximate city-level location, and (where available) precise coordinates derived from it. We use this to protect your account - for example, detecting a login from an unexpected location, or spotting patterns that suggest an account is being shared or accessed from an implausible combination of locations in a short time.
- Visitors to shared preview links: when someone opens a listing's public preview page (shared outside the platform, with no account required), we log their IP address to help detect abuse of that feature.
2. How We Use Information
- To operate the Service - matching listings and bids, displaying dashboards, and processing account applications.
- To communicate with you about your account, listings, bids, and deal outcomes (win/loss notifications, listing status changes).
- To send status check-ins on stale listings, by email and, if you've opted in, by text message.
- To respond to inquiries submitted through our contact form.
- To review and approve or reject broker and dealer applications, and to monitor for misuse (e.g. suspicious bidding activity).
- To comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Text Messaging (SMS)
SMS consent is optional and separate from your account itself. We only send text messages to phone numbers belonging to users who have affirmatively opted in, either at signup or later through Account Settings.
What we text about: primarily status check-ins on listings that have been open without a decision for an extended period (currently 10 days), asking whether to keep the listing open, close it, or leave it open indefinitely.
Message frequency varies based on your account activity and is not fixed or recurring on a schedule.
Message and data rates may apply, as charged by your mobile carrier.
Opt-out: reply STOP to any message at any time to immediately stop receiving texts from us. Reply HELP for assistance, or contact us at the address in Section 10.
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
We do not share your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in status with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes. Your number is used solely to operate the Service as described in this policy.
Text messaging originator opt-in data and consent will not be shared with any third parties, except as required to deliver the messages themselves (i.e., our SMS delivery provider, Twilio).
4. How We Share Information
- Between brokers and dealers: when a broker accepts a dealer's bid, the broker receives the winning dealer's contact information to finalize the deal directly. Bid pricing details are visible to the broker who owns the listing; dealers do not see each other's bids.
- Platform oversight: SecurdFor.Me administrators can view listing and bid details, including sealed bid pricing that other dealers cannot see, for the purpose of platform oversight - monitoring for fraud, abuse, and technical issues, and providing support. This is the one exception to the sealed-bid privacy described above. Administrative actions taken on an account (such as suspending it) are logged; day-to-day oversight viewing is not individually logged.
- Service providers: we share information with vendors who help us operate the Service, including our hosting provider (Vercel), database provider, email delivery provider (Resend), and SMS delivery provider (Twilio). These providers are contractually limited to using your information only to provide services to us.
- Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of SecurdFor.Me, our users, or others.
- Business transfers: if SecurdFor.Me is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or a comparable one.
5. Data Retention
We retain account, listing, and bid information for as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period afterward, to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements. SMS consent records are retained to demonstrate compliance with applicable messaging laws even after you opt out.
6. Your Choices & Rights
- SMS opt-out: reply STOP to any text, or toggle SMS consent off in Account Settings.
- Access and correction: you can review and update most of your account information directly in Account Settings, or by contacting us.
- Account closure: contact us to request deactivation of your account.
- Depending on your state of residence, you may have additional rights (such as under the California Consumer Privacy Act) to request access to, deletion of, or details about the personal information we hold about you. Contact us to make such a request.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Children's Privacy
The Service is intended for business use by adults (brokers and dealers) and is not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
Questions about this Privacy Policy or your information can be sent through our Contact page.
